Incline in this photo is
NOT Exaggerated!

Named “The Best Little Race In Florida” by Race Place magazine, it’s-by far, the most challenging short course in Tampa Bay. The mythical 5 mile trek of varying terrain includes hills, sidewalks, groves, a bridge, cross country and more hills – all in Pasco County’s fresh country air.
More than just another jog down a street and among the Bay Area’s oldest events, it’s a flat out tradition. Discover Florida’s original “adventure run” each year on the third Saturday of October. To take a look at this truly unique Florida event, check out our photo gallery and course map.

Richard T. Walsh Memorial Award:
Established in 1998, for the oldest finisher of the 5 Mile Run, male or female. Mr. Walsh died while competing in the 1997 race at age 74. Although he’d only begun running in the last 15 years of his life, Richard quickly learned to love the sport and never missed the chance to go out for a morning jog or enter a race. Walsh, a Nevada resident, always said that he’d rather die in his running shoes than wither away in a hospital bed.

ATTENTION 5 MILE RUNNERS!!!

The Florida Department of Agriculture has issued special citrus grove guidelines to help stem the spread of citrus canker throughout our state. They are granting us special permission to continue to pass through the famous grove section of our unique course, provided that the following conditions be met by all race participants to the best of their ability.

1. Avoid touching the citrus trees as you pass through the grove.
2. Shower and wash the clothes you wore while in the
grove as soon as possible.
3. Avoid working in or entering other groves (backyard citrus trees included) until the day after the race.

For more information on citrus canker disease and its
effects visit: www.doacs.state.fl.us/

Citrus canker has NEVER been detected in Pasco County.
Let's keep it that way.
